One of the things that sets Presence Saint Joseph Hospital apart diagnostically is that we’re one of the first Chicago-area hospitals with the latest CT-scanning technology, the 64-slice CT scanner. This scanning system provides remarkable image quality and enables us to diagnose the tiniest potential abnormalities with extreme speed and accuracy, increasing our ability to discover and treat cancers early.
We’re also the first Elgin hospital with the Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS). This computerized digital-imaging process captures and stores CT scans, MRIs, and other medical images so the radiologist can access and view the patient’s images with more functionality than the analog film method. The patient’s oncologist, surgeon, and other physicians can access them from their homes or offices to develop a care plan more rapidly.
