The adolescent treatment staff consists of committed, competent and experienced professionals who work together as a team to address the core issues effecting each youth. We rely on intense family and parent involvement throughout the entire therapeutic process, in the development of treatment plans, and aftercare planning.
Treatment Approach:
The treatment approach of the adolescent program utilizes the trauma model of treatment. This approach recognizes that an adolescent may be traumatized by an event, or by real or perceived losses. A youth exposed to a traumatic event may become arrested or “stuck” at an emotional level. When this happens the child begins to rely on destructive thoughts and behaviors. These defenses can become addictive and inhibit recovery. Although every adolescent is unique, our treatment plan is to help each youth learn to accept and handle their emotions in a healthy way. We incorporate experiential approaches to achieve this goal, including psycho-education, psycho-drama, and therapeutic discussions. We provide individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy.
Treatment Options:
Adolescent Inpatient Program: This program is designed for adolescents 12 to 18 years old. It is a short term program that provides individualized care for depression, behavioral problems, suicidal tendencies, alcohol/drug use and other serious conditions that cannot be treated in the Outpatient Program
Partial Hospitalization Program: The Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program is designed for youths 12 to 18 years old who need more intensive treatment for depression, behavioral problems and drug/alcohol use. The program runs from 8:00am – 3:00pm daily and includes 2 hours of tutoring by a certified teacher, 3 ½ hours of group therapy and psycho education, recreation therapy, and lunch. School staffings, and family therapy are also provided.
