System Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

Tony Filer is system senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) of Provena Health. In this role, Tony is responsible for providing overall financial direction for the System including debt management, cash and investment management, accounting, third-party reimbursement, managed care contracting, budgeting and financial planning, pension and insurance, financial management and shared financial services for the System.  He is also responsible for the operations of Provena Home Health, Provena Service Corporation - our employed physician company and for-profit venture companies; along with performance improvement, and contract management. 

Tony joined Provena Health in June of 2002 as system vice president, finance and CFO and was promoted to senior vice president in March of 2005.  Prior to that, he served as vice president of operational finance for Ascension Health, a $10 billion, catholic health system based in St. Louis.  He previously served as regional CFO for the Daughters of Charity National Health System in Baltimore; vice president of finance for Franciscan Health System of Aston, Penn., a 13-hospital system; vice president of finance and CFO of St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, Pennsylvania; and as a senior audit manager for Ernst & Young's Philadelphia practice office.

Tony earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Susquehanna University of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, and is a certified public accountant.  He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the American Health Lawyers Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
