With three generations of family and an energetic dog in residence, there is no shortage of activity in the Lichtenberg home. Still, family patriarch, Ray, knows that all the extra help he may ever need is available with the touch of a button. A 50-year resident of Elgin, Ray has frequently received care as a patient from Provena Saint Joseph Hospital. In recent years as he required closer monitoring, a unique program available through Provena Home Care held the answer - the Lifeline® Medical Alert Service. In a medical emergency, Ray needs only to press the button affixed to a pendant he wears around his neck, which connects him with emergency response personnel who can deploy medical resources 24-hours a day, seven days a week. The added sense of security helps Ray feel more comfortable. "In addition to great care at the hospital, I'm so grateful Provena offers this service. It gives me peace of mind," said Ray. "A few months ago, I experienced some symptoms after a surgical procedure and decided to press my button for help. Soon after, I was in a hospital bed and receiving treatment. I may never need the service again, but it's really comforting to know it's there if I need it." Provena's wide-ranging services provide care throughout Illinois, as well as parts of northeastern Indiana and southeastern Wisconsin. Our six hospital ministries offer acute and ambulatory services. Upon discharge, if a patient needs additional care, they can find it with one of Provena Senior Services' 17 in-house or community-based ministries, or with one of Provena Home Care's five agencies. Additional services are offered through Provena's two Hospice ministries and one Private Duty/Durable Medical Equipment ministry.
