Jeffrey Brickman, FACHE, System Senior Vice
President and Regional CEO for the Provena Southwest Suburban Region has been
recognized for his commitment to the American Hospital Association/Illinois
Hospital Association's PAC both personally and with his teams at Provena Saint
Joseph Medical Center and Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
The American Hospital Association and Illinois Hospital
Association most valuable player award was established in 1997 to recognize
those who have provided outstanding leadership in raising contributions on
behalf of their state associations and AHA's political committee.
According to the IHA's recognition, "Jeff not only makes
his own leadership contribution and encourages others on his team to do so, but
he encourages others in leadership throughout the Provena Health system to
contribute. Jeff is someone who truly understands the importance of the PAC in
our advocacy strategy and works to ensure its success. "
Brickman is a member of the IHA Board of Trustees, IHA's
Advocacy Council and IHA PAC Board.
In this role at Provena Health, he has strategic
leadership and operations responsibility for Provena Saint Joseph Medical
Center, Joliet, and St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
Brickman joined Provena Health in 2004 as President and
CEO of Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, the Mokena, Illinois-based health
system's 475 bed flagship ministry. For four and a half years previous, he
had served as Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for Meridian
Health, an integrated health system located in Wall, New Jersey.
During his four-plus year tenure at Provena, Brickman has
led the evolution of Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center into Will County's
Regional Medical Center with tertiary program development in cardiac,
neuroscience and women and children's services, while also establishing a
regional presence of primary care health centers throughout Will County.
Additionally, Brickman has also led the financial and strategic turnaround of
Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.
Brickman began his career in healthcare management at
Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts, the state's third largest
hospital and flagship medical center for Baystate Health, where he spent 17
½ years in various leadership roles of increasing managerial
responsibility, culminating in the position of Senior Vice President/Chief
Operating Officer. He has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating
Officer for Meridian Health System and as President of Meridian Hospitals
Corporation. He earned a bachelor's degree in biological sciences at the
University of Connecticut, Storrs, and a Master's in Business Administration
with an emphasis in healthcare administration from Temple University in
Philadelphia.
Jeff is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare
Executives and also serves on the American Hospital Association Regional Board
for District 5, as a member of the Illinois Hospital Association Board, and as
the 2008 Vice Chair of the Will County Center for Economic Development
Board. Mr. Brickman and his wife, Elaine, a registered nurse, have three
grown children and reside in Frankfort.
