09/16/2008

Jeffrey Brickman, FACHE, System Senior Vice President and Regional CEO for the Provena Southwest Suburban Region has been recognized for his commitment to the American Hospital Association/Illinois Hospital Association's PAC both personally and with his teams at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center and Provena St. Mary's Hospital.

The American Hospital Association and Illinois Hospital Association most valuable player award was established in 1997 to recognize those who have provided outstanding leadership in raising contributions on behalf of their state associations and AHA's political committee.

According to the IHA's recognition, "Jeff not only makes his own leadership contribution and encourages others on his team to do so, but he encourages others in leadership throughout the Provena Health system to contribute. Jeff is someone who truly understands the importance of the PAC in our advocacy strategy and works to ensure its success. "

Brickman is a member of the IHA Board of Trustees, IHA's Advocacy Council and IHA PAC Board.

In this role at Provena Health, he has strategic leadership and operations responsibility for Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, and St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.

Brickman joined Provena Health in 2004 as President and CEO of Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, the Mokena, Illinois-based health system's 475 bed flagship ministry.  For four and a half years previous, he had served as Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for Meridian Health, an integrated health system located in Wall, New Jersey.

During his four-plus year tenure at Provena, Brickman has led the evolution of Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center into Will County's Regional Medical Center with tertiary program development in cardiac, neuroscience and women and children's services, while also establishing a regional presence of primary care health centers throughout Will County.  Additionally, Brickman has also led the financial and strategic turnaround of Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.

Brickman began his career in healthcare management at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts, the state's third largest hospital and flagship medical center for Baystate Health, where he spent 17 ½  years in various leadership roles of increasing managerial responsibility, culminating in the position of Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer. He has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Meridian Health System and as President of Meridian Hospitals Corporation.  He earned a bachelor's degree in biological sciences at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, and a Master's in Business Administration with an emphasis in healthcare administration from Temple University in Philadelphia.

Jeff is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and also serves on the American Hospital Association Regional Board for District 5, as a member of the Illinois Hospital Association Board, and as the 2008 Vice Chair of the Will County Center for Economic Development Board.  Mr. Brickman and his wife, Elaine, a registered nurse, have three grown children and reside in Frankfort.
