Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center Announces New Chief Medical Officer

Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, part of Provena Southwest Suburban Region, is proud to announce the appointment of their new Chief Medical Officer, Gary P. Plundo, D.O.
“Gary has an extensive background in healthcare,” says Jeffrey Brickman, FACHE, System Senior Vice President and Regional CEO of the Provena Southwest Suburban Region. “We are extremely excited to have Gary on board, and know that he will continue to lead our Medical Staff initiatives.”
Gary comes to us from Provena St. Mary’s Hospital where he has served as its Chief Medical Officer since May 2007. Prior to that, Gary served as Chief Medical Officer for the Midwest Physician Group, a large multi-specialty medical group based in the Olympia Fields, Illinois. Gary has also served as the Medical Director of Westmoreland Regional Hospital PHO located in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Prior to these administrative roles, Gary practiced family medicine for 18 years.
By way of background, Gary completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree. He completed his Medical School Education at Des Moines University – Osteopathic Medical Center, College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He further received additional graduate training at Carnegie Mellon University, H. John Heinz, III School of Public Policy & Management where he received his Masters in Public Management.
