Long appreciated for the generous gifts of their time
and talents, Dominic and Brenda Randazzo have been chosen as the recipients of
the 2008 Servant Leader of the Year Award by Provena St. Mary's Foundation. The
annual award honors individuals who volunteer their leadership skills and
knowledge to support the hospital's mission of building communities of healing
and hope and of making positive differences in the lives of others.
Currently, Dominic serves as a trustee on the Provena St. Mary's Foundation
board and chairs its special events committee. He has chaired the sponsorship
component of the Foundation's annual Black Tie Gala for the past eight years and
is personally responsible for raising $316,000 in direct gifts for Provena St.
Mary's Hospital. Last year, Brenda chaired the gala's auction, which raised more
than $30,000 in donations.
"Our hospital and our community are truly blessed with Dominic and Brenda's
spirit and compassion. Together, they have helped Provena St. Mary's Hospital
achieve many positive and beneficial goals for our patients, our staff, and our
community. We are indeed grateful to them beyond words," said Yvonne V.
Chalfant, president of Provena St. Mary's Foundation.
Both Dominic and Brenda were born at Provena St. Mary's Hospital. Dominic
grew up in Kankakee and retired from CSL Behring in 2006 as the manager of
community and government relations. He is a former president of United Way of
Kankakee County, a 2003 Citizen of the Year, and is active in Rebuilding
Together (formerly Christmas in April).
Brenda retired as the general manager of Holiday Inn & Suites in Bradley
in 2006. She is active in Bourbonnais Rotary, volunteers for the Arthritis
Foundation's annual tea, received the Athena Award in 2006 in recognition for
her business acumen, co-chaired the Ebony Fashion Show for two years, and served
on the allocations committee for United Way of Kankakee County for seven years.
The Randazzos will be honored on Wednesday, April 16, with a special
presentation at the Kankakee Country Club. The event is open to the community.
