Every Heart Matters at Provena Covenant Medical Center
Do you have questions about your heart? Do you have a loved one with heart issues? The Provena Center for Healthy Aging is hosting “Every Heart Matters,” a free self-care course, where participants will learn about cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke and heart failure.
The two-part course will be held on Wednesday, November 14 and Wednesday, November 21, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. In the first class, a Registered Nurse will discuss risk factors for cardiovascular disease and provide practical strategies for reducing these risk factors. In addition, information on exercising safely with cardiovascular disease will be provided. A physician will discuss types of cardiovascular disease, symptoms, causes, and techniques/treatments for controlling symptoms. The second class will feature a Registered Pharmacist that will discuss the benefits, side effects, and interactions of cardiovascular-related medications. Participants should bring their medication list for the questions and answers section. The class concludes with a Registered Dietitian demonstrating heart-healthy cooking ideas and samples.
The series will be held at the Provena Center for Healthy Aging Wellness Room, 410 E. University in Champaign. Participants should enter on the west side of building. Parking is available in the north and west lots. Space is limited and healthy refreshments will be served. Registration is required, so call (217) 337-2022 to sign up today.
