Presence Covenant Medical Center now offers outpatient lactation consultations. Our certified Lactation Consultants are professional healthcare providers who specialize in educating and supporting families who may need assistance with the breastfeeding process. While providing private lactation consultations we monitor the baby's weight gain and breastfeeding success.
Presence Covenant's lactation consultants are Certified Lactation Consultants (C.L.C.) and as such have attained high levels of clinical and theoretical knowledge required to practice competently and in the area of lactation services. A minimum of 2,500 hours of breastfeeding counseling experience are required prior to certification.
Breastfeeding offers many benefits to babies and mothers who don't have health problems are encouraged to breastfeed for the first six months of the baby's life. Breast milk provides babies with the appropriate nutrients needed for proper development and also offers additional protection against childhood ailments.
