The first step in testing for sleep apnea is taking the Berlin Sleep Apnea Quiz. Your results will determine your risk factor for sleep apnea. Once you have completed the quiz, you and your primary care physician will be notified of your results. If you are at HIGH RISK for sleep apnea you will need to obtain a referral from your primary care physician to be seen at your local Provena Sleep Disorder Center. The next step is to schedule an appointment at the sleep lab. What to expect at the sleep lab.
You will return to the sleep lab for a second study to determine your course of treatment. During this second study, you will wear the CPAP mask. Afterwards, your physician will write the order for you to begin Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) treatment with Provena Care @ Home. You will be contacted by one of our respiratory therapists to schedule an appointment for your initial CPAP set up. You can begin treatment that night. You will wear a fitted nasal mask or small nasal pillows that will open up your airway and restore normal breathing during your sleep. Successful CPAP therapy will eliminate snoring and make you feel more rested. Often, you will notice results within the first few nights of therapy.

Q: Is the CPAP noisy and will it affect my bed partner? A: New CPAPs are extremely quiet and will not disturb the sleep of your bed partner. Q: Do I need to wear the CPAP every night? Yes, while being treated for sleep apnea, you should wear your mask every night.
