The Wellness Councils of America recently presented the Silver Well Workplace
Award to Provena Health. This award recognizes Provena’s commitment to the
health and well-being of its employees through regular wellness activities,
including yearly health fairs, fitness challenges and wellness education.
Silver-level recipients are recognized for having laid the foundation for a
results-oriented workplace wellness program and have demonstrated support of
employees’ efforts to modify health risks and improve overall health and

Human Resources. “Frequent wellness programming has the goal of a reduction in
healthcare costs and continuous opportunities for employees to participate in
initiatives dedicated to improving overall health and wellness.”
A popular and effective system-wide program is the annual Bottom Line
Challenge. Employees compete to lose weight, body fat and inches through diet,
exercise and wellness education during the two-month challenge. In 2006, over
1,000 employees (approximately 10% of staff system-wide) completed the
