11/05/2009

More than 100 women attended Provena Saint Joseph Hospital's Healthy Hearts And The City event tonight hosted by the Provena Saint Joseph Hospital Heart & Vascular Institute.  Attendees not only heard interesting physician presentations but also learned of the new  Provena Saint Joseph Hospital Heart & Vascular Institute Women's Heart Center opening this winter.

In an event backdropped in festive hot pink and black, moms and daughters, sisters, groups of girlfriends enjoyed fabulous food, over 15 vendor tables including gourmet food and wine tasting, bra fitting, spa services and more, chair massages and health screenings. Special guest included Mrs. Illinois 2010 who was on hand as an ambassador of the American Heart Association Go Red Campaign for which Provena Saint Joseph Hosptial is a major sponsor.

Attendees then heard Agnieszka Silbert, MD Cardiologist, Provena Saint Joseph Hospital discuss the innovations made in the treatment of heart disease including medications, interventions. A break that included dark chocolate-dipped strawberries was followed by a presentation called "Sometimes….It’s Good to be Bad!" presented by Jincy Joseph, MD, Family Practice Physician, ProvenaMedical Group. This lecture discussed the virtues of habits that seem naughty but are nice for your heart.

The event concluded with the giving away of many raffle prizes and the announcement of the new women's heart center opening this winter.  The grand opening of the Center is scheduled for February 4th.
