Provena Saint Joseph Hospital is pleased to offer our community a broad scope of support groups that focus on unique concerns. Here is a list of our current support groups. Unless otherwise stated, for more information contact the Pastoral Care office at 847-695-3200 extension 5767. Caregivers: This group’s primary focus is to take care of the caregiver. It is a safe place where caregivers can share feelings and frustrations involved in care giving without fear or judgment. The group offers emotional support, practical advice and socialization for caregivers. Make Today Count: This support group is open to anyone with cancer or a serious illness. Family members are welcome. US, TOO! This organization offers free education and support with the latest information in the fight against prostate cancer. Mended Hearts: Open to anyone who deals with heart health issues. Guest speakers will be provided. Family members are welcome. For more information call Barb Kuhn (847) 888-3193. Breast Cancer: In these meetings, people diagnosed with
breast cancer interact with each other, with breast cancer survivors and with
others living with breast cancer. An oncology nurse and a breast cancer
survivor facilitate the meetings Under Control Adult and Caregivers Epilepsy Support Group: This group is intended for adults living with seizures/epilepsy. This group explores the emotional aspects of epilepsy, new treatments and daily challenges related to living with seizures, among other topics. For more information call (847) 695-3200, ext. 5244. TLC- Breastfeeding Support Group: This support group is designed for nursing moms and their babies during baby's first year. The group is informal and offers moms loving support in a nurturing environment. Topics include coping with myths, surviving the early weeks of breastfeeding, night nursings, combining breastfeeding and return to work. Candi Bone Stroke Support Group: The Candi Bone Stroke Club provides a friendly supportive environment where Stroke survivors and their families can share their experiences of coping with strokes.
