Our licensed Occupational Therapists evaluate and treat individuals of all ages at the hospital outpatient Outreach site located in Elgin. Therapists provide services to those physically impaired due to illness or injury thereby impeding the performance of their functional activities of daily life. Our goal is to optimize a patient's performance of all tasks at home, work, school or play in a safe manner incorporating the use of adaptive equipment, customized upper extremity orthoses, and/or the use of compensatory strategies or exercise, all designed to maximize return to functional independence.
Diagnoses commonly seen are: stroke, total joint replacement, Parkinson's, cardiac problems, generalized deconditioning, arthritis and/or any upper extremity injury (orthopedic or neurological).
We are proud to have Certified Hand Therapists (on staff who specialize in the treatment and rehabilitation of the Upper Extremity, (hands, shoulders, arms and elbows). They provide advanced expertise and experience in addressing the unique needs of clients who suffer injury, disorder, or dysfunction of the upper extremities.
Diagnosis commonly treated include post op orthopedic and neurological conditions, trauma, sprains and strains, tendon lacerations, burns, fracture management, tendonitis, sports injuries, work injuries, work readiness training, in addition to addressing the specialized needs of the school age child and the pediatric population.
