Visual Therapy To make each patient's treatment experience as comfortable as possible, our radiation treatment rooms are equipped with picturesque nature murals installed in the ceiling which give patients a focal point during treatment. Research shows that patients who use visual therapy have lower systolic blood pressure, heart and pulse rate; use less pain medication; and generally have a more positive perception of their treatment.
Clinical Trials Patients being treated through the Sister Theresa Cancer Care Center have access to new drug therapies through participation in National Research Studies .
Positive People Support Group Individuals faced with a diagnosis of cancer and their family members are invited to participate in Positive People, a support group that meets the first and third Thursday of each month from 3-5 p.m. in the Sister Theresa Cancer Care Center. Nutrition Counseling A registered dietitian is available to provide consultation and education to patients who have special diet needs resulting from their cancer treatment.
Spiritual Counseling As a Catholic health care provider, Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center is committed to providing for the spiritual needs of cancer patients and their families through the Pastoral Care Department.
Social Services A social worker is available to assist and guide cancer patients regarding financial concerns, transportation needs and other support services.
Y-Me Breast Support Group Women faced with a diagnosis of breast cancer are invited to participate in Y-ME Breast Support Group, which meets the second Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Sister Theresa Cancer Care Center. For more information, call (815) 741-7560.
