We now offer the BrainLab for orthopedics, a new surgical technique also known as image-guided surgery, which utilizes a powerful computer system to support surgeons prior to and during joint replacement surgery for a more precise procedure.

The BiPlane for neurosurgery is also new this year. This procedure utilizes microcatheters which are inserted in the groin area and, under X-ray guidance, are threaded through the blood vessels leading into the brain, providing patients with a less-invasive procedure and shorter recovery time for neurosurgical procedures and stroke care.

Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center is home to a 64-slice CT scanner, technology that has four times as many detectors as a typical multi-detector CT scanner and provides a very  high-quality image in a remarkably short time. In fact, it can produce detailed pictures of any organ and blood vessels in seconds in three-dimensional imaging, which provides physicians with a clearer view.

The Trilogy system is a remarkable advancement in the treatment of cancer, and is now available right here in Will County. The new Trilogy system allows our cancer care specialists to destroy cancer with a beam as small as a period at the end of a sentence  and it brings more precise cancer treatment closer to home.

To better care for our expectant mothers, we have added a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician, Guillermo E. Font, MD, who is seeing high-risk moms-to-be, eliminating inconvenient doctor’s visits downtown. Dr. Font’s arrival on staff, along with our Level II + Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and our unique LifeWings patient safety program, means the Medical Center now offers the most advanced level of care for mom and baby in the area.

Do you snore?  Are you tired during the day? Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center's Sleep Disorder Center diagnoses and treats all sleep disorders through use of state-of-the-art equipment, al team of registered technicians, board certified sleep specialists and a supporting team of physicians. Sleep studies take place in our recently renovated rooms, complete with a private bathroom, television and step-in shower.

Provena Therapy Services offers the area's most comprehensive therapy services backed by a major medical center.  Our services include physical, occupational, speech and aquatic therapy.  Not only will you be treated by our experienced therapists, you will have access to the area's best physicians, facilities and imaging resources assisting in your rehabilitation.  Our six facilities are located in Joliet, Plainfield, Shorewood, New Lenox and Frankfort.  They all offer convenient early morning and evening care. And be assured that all of our facilities are accredited by the Joint Commission of Health Care Organizations.

We've taken steps to virtually eliminate the wait in our Emergency Department while maintaining the highest levels of quality and patient satisfaction. When emergencies happen, it's comforting to know you can trust Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, a Level II trauma center with vast experience in treating all types of emergencies, ranging from broken bones, to heart attacks, to critical injuries. In 2006 we were named an accredited Chest Pain Center  - only 5% of the hospitals nationwide have this designation. Our state-of-the-art Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours around the clock by board certified emergency medicine physicians who have education and special training in emergency medicine. Plus, an impressive 90 percent of the emergency nurses are trauma nurse specialists, in addition to being certified in advanced cardiac life support - a statistic that significantly exceeds requirements of the Illinois Department of Public Health.
