In part with our vision of becoming a regional referral center and bringing
needed healthcare services closer to home, Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center
is proud to celebrate the dedication of the Provena Medical Group on Monday,
November 5. The facility, blessed by Deacon Ed Petak, Regional Vice President of
Mission Services, will provide the residents of Manhattan with access to
healthcare right in their city. Provena Southwest Suburban Region President and
CEO Jeff Brickman, FACHE, Mayor William Borgo of Manhattan, Will County
Executive Larry Walsh, and Dr. Rushia Butler were on hand to cut the ribbon at
the dedication ceremony.
“Quality healthcare is just as important as quality education and quality
employment, and Provena is at the forefront of bringing quality healthcare to
our community,” said Will County Executive Larry Walsh. Added Manhattan Mayor
Bill Borgo, “Manhattan used to be just a blip on the map between Joliet and
Kankakee. Now, we’re coming into our own, and having a healthcare facility here
is just the beginning of Manhattan’s growth. We are grateful to have this
medical group here, and look forward to the care they will be providing for our
community.”
The office, located at 540 W. North Street, is led by Rushia Butler, MD, a
family practice physician now accepting new patients. Dr. Butler provides
Healthcare for men, women and children; annual physicals, sports physicals and
check ups; immunizations for the entire family; and care for work-related
injuries.
“I’m excited to be in Manhattan,” says Dr. Butler. “Provena Medical Group
Manhattan is committed to providing the residents here with the care they need,
closer to home. We are extremely patient focused and will continue to build and
become part of the community. Our goal is more than to have an office here – we
want to be a part of Manhattan, and so the residents will see us out around town
developing relationships. Our patients are more than just patients – they are
mothers, grandfathers, sons, and friends who need the best quality of care, and
compassion. We provide medical advice based upon the person, knowing that
everyone is different, that everyone is special in their own right. This is my
approach to medicine.”
Rushia Butler, MD, joined Provena Medical Group in Manhattan to provide
closer access to care to the people of Manhattan and the surrounding areas. She
is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and the National
Medical Association.
Dr. Butler earned a Bachelors of Science with a Psychology/Chemistry minor
from the University of Illinois. Her family practice residency was completed at
University of Illinois/LP Johnsons with specialized training in flexible
sigmoidoscopy and stress testing.
In addition, Dr. Butler has served as a member of the U.S. Army National
Guard since 1998. She has practiced at SJ Robinson Family Health in Lumberton,
North Carolina, Erie Family Health Center in Chicago, and Advocate Health
Systems.
Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center is proud to be bringing healthcare into
the areas we serve.
“When it comes to your health, having access to quality healthcare is
important,” says Brickman. “We are working with the communities we serve to
bring healthcare closer to home. Recently, we’ve brought three new family
practice physicians to New Lenox, as well as the recent addition of three
OB/GYNs to Provena Obstetrics & Women’s Health Lincoln-Way. With the
addition of Dr. Butler in Manhattan, we will continue our development of
ambulatory centers to provide our patients with exceptional healthcare right
where they live. We will also continue looking into other communities and
developing plans to better serve everyone in Will County.”
