Master Facility Project Moving
Forward
Through its strategic vision and smart planning, Provena
Saint Joseph Medical Center carries on its nearly 125-year tradition of care and
service that will improve facilities and enhance health care services to
patients. This major reinvestment will build on the excellent care P rovena Saint Joseph already provides to create a
top-quality health care facility bringing healing and hope to our patients for
generations.
The construction of the Master Facility Project is underway with the
construction of the 700-space parking garage. The Bed Tower, expected to
be completed in 2009, will offer the people of the Will County area first
class care in their own backyard.
An eight-story addition will be built with all
private rooms that will bring the Medical Center’s overall staffed inpatient
beds to 475 while bringing
the comforts of family and home to our patients through private bath,
comfortable seating for visitors and even overnight accommodations for
family.
With the building of these new facilities, comes the area’s first
comprehensive dedicated Women and Children’s Center. This center houses
luxurious Family Birthing Suites and a Level II-plus Neonatal Nursery to care
for infants as young as 28 weeks. Also, a cutting edge 4-bed
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit will be added and a healing garden.
Design of the Master Facility Plan is being informed by
research linking a medical institution’s physical environment with positive
patient and staff outcomes. The Center for Health Design, a nonprofit
research and advocacy organization, is at the forefront of this research.
PSJMC is one of only 26 Pebble Project Partners in the country, a joint research
effort between the Center and select healthcare providers. Click here to see renderings of the new Master Facility
