Family Birthing Suites
"Ever since our existing birthing unit opened in 1997, we have continually been at maximum capacity, and frequently over capacity, as the number of young families in Joliet and surrounding communities continues to grow," says Jeff Brickman, System Senior Vice President and Regional CEO. "The Family Birthing Suites expansion will enhance our ability to serve our growing population." Provena Saint Joseph's Special Care Nursery is designated by the State of Illinois as a Level II with extended capabilities, which means they have the clinical expertise and equipment to care for mothers with high-risk pregnancies, premature infants that are as young as 28 weeks gestation, and infants with certain illnesses. To learn more, please contact the Women and Children's Services at (815) 725-7133. Pediatric Unit Renovation Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center celebrated the completion of renovations to their pediatric unit in a small ceremony on Monday, October 24. Guests of honor included i•mag•jen Charities founders Jennifer Christopher and Maggie McEnery, who donated flat screen televisions to each room on the unit. "The flat screen televisions are a wonderful addition to our new pediatric unit," says Beth Garrow, President at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center Foundation. "Thanks to the generous donation of i•mag•jen Charities, we are able to continue building excellence as well as support our mission of building communities of healing and hope. A hospital stay can be difficult for anyone, especially a child. Now, all of the children that pass through our doors will now have one more comfort of home right at their fingertips." Thanks to the Joliet Township High School and Chicagoland Speedway, the patient rooms and hallways of the Pediatrics Department are filled with beautiful artwork.
