Cadiovascular Nursing Staff
All cardiovascular nursing staff are required to have specialized education and training in all aspects of cardiovascular disease and treatment.
Intensive Care Units
Presence St. Mary's Hospital provides a closely monitored environment for patients whose health conditions are serious to critical. Care on these units is enhanced through the eICU connection, using a computerized network and key medical information.
Cardiovascular Telemetry Unit
The Cardiovascular Telemetry Unit specializes in all aspects of the vascular patient including peripheral, cardiac and cerebral. Twenty-four hour telemetry heart monitoring is provided.
The continuum of cardiovascular care goes on to include Cardiac and Peripheral Arterial Disease Rehab. This service includes:
- Phase 1- Inpatient education
- Phase 2 - Extensive outpatient exercises and education
- Phase 3 - Maintenance exercises

As a Nationally Accredited Chest Pain Center and an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, our Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours/day and is ready to handle patients who are experiencing cardiac problems. All of our Emergency Department physicians are board certified in emergency medicine.

Congestive Heart Failure Clinic and Pediatric Cardiology Clinic Cardiac specialists from Loyola University Medical Center are available to meet personally with patients at Presence St. Mary's Hospital.
Congestive Heart Failure Clinic
Held once a month, patients are evaluated for further treatment of their congestive heart failure. They learn about the newest advances in CHF care, such as cardiac devices, availability of clinical trials and/or drug therapies. Appointments are required and may be scheduled by calling the Infusion Centre at Presence St. Mary's Hospital at 815.937.3511.
Pediatric Cardiology Clinic
A physician who specializes in the tratement and care of children who have been diagnosed with heart disease is available to meet with patients and their families on a monthly basis. Information about clinical trials, new procedures and treatment options are discussed in a personal setting.
