  • Food label reading
  • Dining out
  • Physical activity
  • Understanding lab results

We provide counseling to patients with:

  • Celiac disease
  • Crohn's and Colitis
  • Home tube feedings and parenteral nutrition
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Kidney disease
  • Special diets: High fiber, low cholesterol/sodium
  • Type 1, 2 and Gestational Diabetes
  • Weight loss and gain
  • and more

Medical Nutrition Therapy

Medical nutrition therapy means helping you manage your health condition through a healthy approach to your eating habits and lifestyle, including:

  • A reduction in the amount of medicine you take
  • Possible decrease in hospital admissions and length of hospital stays
  • Reduction of dangerous complications
  • Better disease management, such as improved blood sugars and cholesterol
  • Enhanced quality of life, including learning how your body responds to what you eat, and how exercise has an impact on your blood sugars.

Registered Dietitians work with you one-on-one to create a personalized medical nutrition therapy plan. The RD provides individualized nutrition counseling based on the patient's diagnosis, labs, and lifestyle. The RD is available for follow-up counseling and questions to help the patient reach nutritional goals.

A physician order is not needed to schedule nutrition counseling services; however, some insurance companies will cover nutrition counseling services. To receive insurance coverage, you will need a physician referral. Medicare provides coverage for patients with diabetes and kidney disease.
