As a major Annual Gift program, the Servant Leader Initiative honors the founders of Provena St. Mary's Hospital, the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary. These yearly gifts range from $1,250 to $10,000 and are used to assist the hospital with current patient care needs, staff education, community outreach programs, and strategic capital necessities.
Gifts to the Servant Leader Initiative may be submitted online or made by check and sent to Provena St. Mary's Foundation, 500 W. Court Street, Kankakee, IL 60901.

Virginia M. Long Scholarship for Nursing Education
Mrs. Long was a member of the first graduating class of registered nurses at Kankakee Community College. She went on to spend 30+ years as an R.N. at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, initiating many projects and programs - most importantly, the first infection control plan - that are still in place today.
The annual recipient of the Virginia M. Long Scholarship for Nursing Education is named during National Nurses' Week in May.
The scholarship is distributed through the Kankakee Community College Foundation and may be used to fund tuition, living and travel expenses (gas), childcare, and the purchase of books and uniforms.

The mission of Provena St. Mary's Hospital calls our staff to build communities of healing and hope by compassionately responding to human need in the spirit of Jesus Christ. Each year, the staff of Provena St. Mary's Hospital nominates fellow employees or physicians whose continuous efforts best embrace these values in their daily work. Recipients of the R.I.S.E. Award are recognized at the annual dinner for the Servant Leader of the Year Award.
