October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This recognition began in 1985 as a way to help educate women about the importance of early detection. Since then, mammography rates have more than doubled for women age 50 and older, and, importantly, breast cancer deaths have declined. While this is encouraging progress, there are still women who do not get mammograms annually or at regular intervals, and there are those who have not been screened at all.
The Presence St. Mary’s Breast Health Center is a complete location for screening, diagnosis, treatment, and support. Services include digital mammography, 3D/4D ultrasound, breast MRI, stereotactic breast biopsy, and assistance from a Breast Health Navigator.
