Grab your ten gallon hat and shine up your boots because it’s time to giddy up and head to the Old West!
Provena United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation along with our sponsors American Pavilion & Vermilion Chevrolet will be hosting an evening fundraiser, “Kickin’ It Country,” Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Turtle Run Banquet Center.
The fun starts at 5:30pm and runs to 11:30 that evening. The goal is to raise money to build the new Clinical Decision Unit, (CDU), at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center.
Dr. Adolfo Napolez, Medical Director, Department of Emergency Medicine, explains what the new unit is, and the purpose it serves: “A CDU is a unit designed to provide an alternative to discharge or inpatient admission for patients who may benefit from an extended observation period, or who may require additional monitoring, diagnostic evaluation and/or treatment.”
“The CDU will also reduce patients’ length of stay, prevent unnecessary admissions and reduce the patient’s healthcare cost following their visit,” Napolez adds, “A Clinical Decision Unit will benefit the patient through all phases of their care, resulting in more appropriate treatment venues and patient outcomes.”
Guests at the Kickin’ It Country event will enjoy beer and wine tasting, a barbecue style buffet, games and a live auction. Entertainment will be provided by Timothy D and Blind Justice, featuring special guest Danny Odum of Head East, and Suburban Cowboys. Western wear is encouraged.
Angie Lazzell, Development Specialist at the Foundation says guests can expect a good time. “We’re really going to get into the country spirit and have a blast. The theme is fun and unique and we’re hoping for a great turnout. We want people to come out, have a great time and help us raise some money. That’s our goal; to help get the CDU up and running.”
Tickets are $50 per person and go on sale July 1. You can also buy a $15 ticket for the Suburban Cowboys concert only. Those tickets are on sale at the Foundation Office or at Turtle Run. That show is scheduled to begin at 9pm. To order tickets please call the Foundation office at 217-442-6583. |
