The statistics can't be denied: Most common cancer diagnosed in women. Second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths. One out of eight American women will develop it sometime in her life. Our community is home to more than 400 of these women each year. Breast cancer touches almost every one at some time, either through a friend, family member, or personal diagnosis. That's why Provena United Samaritans continues to push the envelope on providing the ultimate in breast cancer prevention, detection and treatment for women in the greater Danville area. Statistics show that if we can detect breast cancer early, women have a higher rate of survival. Our goal is to encourage all women to receive necessary screenings for early detection of breast disease. The medical center currently has more than 500 visits a month from local women seeking mammograms, breast MRI and ultrasound. The Breast Health Program at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center offers minimally-invasive breast biopsies, using local anesthesia, so you can be home in a couple of hours. This new technology also means less pain, less scarring, and faster healing. Provena United Samaritans is the first and only provider to offer a comprehensive breast health program in Danville. With digital mammography, breast MRI, and minimally-invasive biopsies, we provide the most advanced breast diagnostics for our community. In January 2010, Provena United Samaritans opened the Women's Health Center a new, upscale central location for all of the many diagnostic services for women, including breast diagnostics. |
