Our high performance Echelon 1.5T MRI system combines comfort advantages with
powerful technology and a rapid response workstation computer to make patient
exams as quick and smooth as possible. With an investment of
just over $1 million in 2007, the system has 16 channels versus the current
eight-channel unit being replaced. The new system will allow for advanced
imaging applications, such as advanced peripheral vascular diagnostics, breast
MRI, and more.
In the March/April 2007 edition of CA; A Cancer Journal of Clinicians, the
American Cancer Society released a guideline that women with a genetic
predisposition to breast cancer, and/or those with a family history of the
disease, should undergo annual magnetic resonance screening along with routine
mammograms. With Provena United Samaritans Medical Center's MRI, these
screenings are now possible here in Danville.
