Minimally-Invasive Biopsy |
 |
When an abnormality is seen on a mammogram or using
another technology, a tissue sample is needed to determine whether the growth is
benign or cancerous. At Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, minimally
invasive imaging-guided breast biopsies are performed using a digital mammogram,
ultrasound, or MRI guidance, using the Mammotome® Biopsy System. Minimally
invasive imaging-guided breast biopsies require less prep time and less recovery
time. The techniques used also allow for much smaller incisions which results in
less scarring and deformity of the breast.
