HALO Vision Statement
The Greater Danville Area is home to diverse citizens, each of whom is valued, empowered, and responsible for creating a peaceful, healthy environment individually; as families; and as a community.
By broadly defining health to include those elements in our community which are known to have the greatest effect on health, such as education, income, employment and housing, the HALO Project acts to impact the lifestyles, community standards and conditions that lead to good health.
A healthy community initiative to focus on building a community culture that supports healthy life choices and a high quality of life.
The "WE" of HALO is the hundreds of volunteers and members of the community who devote thousands of hours to planning, dreaming, and implementing a healthier community.
The HALO Project serves as a catalyst to mobilize individuals, organizations, local government, neighborhood groups, social service agencies and healthcare providers to become partners in reclaiming responsibility for individual and community health. A community initiative that seeks the input of all segments of the community and works to assure that the participants represent the diversity of the whole community.
Through "visionary" meetings, community health indicators and asset management, community residents are encouraged to participate in the process.
HALO Project, WomenAware, and County Market were the first recipients of the new CRIS Healthy Aging Center Award of Excellence!
